The Duttons faced a new set of challenges in the early 20th century, including the rise of westward expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression. While the American Great Depression began in 1929, it began early in Montana. The Great Depression began in Montana in 1918, nearly 10 years before the rest of the nation. While the rest of America prospered, Montana struggled. Between drought and reduced demand for agricultural products due to the end of the "Great War" (also known as World War I, from 1914 to 1918), many farmers suffered greatly. As a result, Montana farmers could not repay war loans, leading to massive bank failures across the state. Between 1921 and 1925, half of Montana farmers lost their land. By 1925, 70,000 of Montana’s 82,000 farms were gone. In addition, 200 banks in Montana went bankrupt. Not only were crops affected by the drought, but there was also an invasion of locusts and livestock succumbed to the infestation. Featured in Timeless Heroes: Indiana Jones and Harrison Ford (2023). After Yellowstone it was different, but still a similar feeling….. I honestly enjoyed it and although I did get to see the ore, something makes me think it could have been better (a tougher challenge after Yellowstone!) BUT. BUT. BUT…. It finally seems to start to tie up the side stories… And then it ends – this is obviously set up for season 2 – BUT – if it doesn’t happen then you’ve just wasted your time as the story isn’t even finished by the end of this first season. And there is currently no announcement or schedule for season 2… This makes me so angry! It’s like going to a great restaurant and they only serve you chicken on the side with no main course!!! What the hell….Come on producers….Fingers off!!!!
