This will be his third attempt at a television series based on The World of Cruel Intentions (1999)
Plot
After a crazy incident at their elite college, half-siblings Caroline and Lucien try to maintain their power and reputation by seducing the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. The direct-to-video sequel Cruel Intentions 2 (2000), which replaced Sarah Michelle Gellar as Catherine Mertel, was originally a scripted series before being adapted into a feature film.
Cruel Intentions (1999) followed
Gellar later reprised her role as Catherine in the 2016 NBC pilot Cruel Intentions (2016), which was not ordered to series. With the exception of Sarah Silva, who played CeCe, the entire cast was awful.
Not to say they weren’t decent actors
To say the acting was poor would be an understatement. But the main characters were definitely not suited to these roles.
It’s not a completely different story
The story was decent, and while it’s understandable that they’re not the same characters as in the original film, they’re loosely based on them. They copied certain scenes from the original, like Caroline kissing Annie.
It would have helped if the show hadn’t used the name Cruel Intentions, but regardless, these actors and actresses just missed the mark
Lucien was supposed to be a sexy character like Sebastian, but I don’t understand how Zach Burgess was considered the best look and actor for the role. Sarah Catherine Hook, who played Caroline, did a decent job playing the bitch, but like Zach and the character Lucien, they weren’t exactly sexy and seductive.
