Soprano Angel Blue makes her long-awaited Met debut as the Ethiopian princess torn between love and country, one of the opera’s most memorable roles. Music director Yannick Nézet-Séguin takes the stage for Michael Mayer’s spectacular new production, which transports audiences to the towering pyramids and golden tombs of ancient Egypt with intricate projections and dazzling animation. Mezzo-soprano Judith Kutasi, making her 2024 debut in Verdi’s La Forza del Destino, plays Aida’s Egyptian rival Amneris, and tenor Piotr Betsala is the soldier Radames, completing the opera’s greatest love triangle. The star-studded cast also includes baritone Quinn Kelsey as Amonasro and bass Dmitry Beloselsky as Ramfis.
